Park and National Palace of Pena

This is from the official Sintra website, although I have to say it doesn’t come up so highly in search engines. A shame as its a really comprehensive website with just about everything you need to know about Sintra and its surrounding area. If you’re visiting – then check the website out as it has useful info about Pena Palace etc …

Established on top of the hill as a result of the creative genius of Ferdinand II, the Park and Palace of Pena are Portugal’s greatest example of Romantic architecture.

Winding over two ridges of the Serra de Sintra, the Moorish Castle dates back to the early days of the Moorish occupation of the Peninsula – the 8th century.
